Environmental Health & Safety Standards
Safety in our industry is imperative and at HMH Contractors we place the highest priority on employee and work place safety.
Our comprehensive safety program includes daily safety huddles, weekly tool box talks and jobsite inspections, monthly safety audits at each jobsite and daily evaluations of changing jobsite conditions with immediate corrective action to unsafe conditions.
Our successful approach to safety uses much more than just this program, utilizing both top-down and bottom-up approach, with constant employee involvement.
Safety starts at the time of employment with each prospective employee receiving new employee safety & environmental training, which is a basic safety review and a general overview of OSHA's specific safety requirements for confined spaces, fall
protection, and PPE. When our employees get to the field their safety training is extended to cover specific job/activity hazard analysis. Daily safety huddles review the daily work plan and any specific safety issue the employees might encounter.
Each week, our employees have a specific "toolbox talk" which addresses appropriate topics i.e. fall protection, welding safety, hand tool safety, etc. The talks are coordinated with the type of work being conducted and any seasonal information.
Employee training is documented and updated regularly. We rely on constant supervision to monitor, review and improve our program. All of our superintendents have OSHA 30-hour certifications and many of our foremen have 10-hour certifications.
